About Us

Why Catalyst Ministries?

A dictionary definition of a catalyst is 'a person who causes or promotes change by their presence in a situation or their input into it'. It involves getting things started, initiating, pioneering, starting a chain reaction.

Our Mission

  • Promoting change in order to empower believers and advance the Kingdom of God (Great Commission).
  • Reaching out to the hurting, emotionally deprived, and disadvantaged with the love of God (Great Commandment).

Following seven years of pioneering in China, including time in Thailand, Catalyst Ministries was established in the UK in 2003.  In 2007, the ministry relocated back to South East Asia.  It is currently based near Vancouver, Canada.

Catalyst Ministries exists to stimulate Christians into action in our world and bring about change, encouraging people to reach out cross-culturally and to engage in the mandate to 'disciple nations'. Our particular cross-cultural focus for the past 16 years has been the Chinese, but our heart is to empower people to be effective in life and ministry, whether they are reaching out across the globe or in their own community and spheres of influence.

This ministry is independently financed through the regular giving and gifts of partners and supporters. Catalyst Ministries is an Associate Ministry of YWAM England (www.ywam-england.com) through its base at The King's Lodge, Nuneaton, England (www.thekingslodge.com), and in Canada a ministry of YWAM Nexia (www.ywamnexia.org).

Endorsements

"Stuart and Michelle are among my heroes.  I followed their career in China for many years, and shall never forget some of those stories.  It was so fitting that Stuart was honoured to be the person to move the bones of James O. Fraser, and then depict the man in the Breakthrough documentary.  At the same time, the Simpson family have been remarkably close.  That really impresses me.  Not only are the parents devoted to their children but the children seem devoted to their parents.  They have raised three gifted young people who will no doubt go on to do extraordinary things for God in their own right - indeed they already do!" - Becky Mehaffey, Director of Overseas Missions for YWAM England & Wales

"The men of Issachar were the military scouts of Israel, who knew what God was doing through His people, but also understood what the enemy was up to and were able to report to God's people God's strategy for that season.  Stuart Simpson, a friend and co-worker in Christ's kingdom, is such a man today." - Loren Cunningham, Founder, Youth With A Mission
